How To Organize A Spice Drawer

A sprinkle of paprika or a dash of red pepper elevates the most basic dish, but a jumble of spice jars on your counter gives your kitchen a cluttered look. Take a look at this step-by-step spice drawer organization process so you can easily access all of the spices you need, when you need them.

Step 1: Assess Your Spice Inventory

You probably have a lot of spices you never use. You probably bought them for one recipe a few years ago and then they’ve just sat in your spice drawer ever since.

Step 2: Take all of your spices out and get rid of the spices you never use

Read through the expiration dates on all of your bottles. You’ll probably end up getting rid of even more of them. If you’re looking for new spices, make sure you pop into a Crazy Plastics near you and take a look at our wide range of spices.

Step 3: Take a good look at your spice containers and find out whether or not they are working for you

If they’re not, grab a batch of small glass jars at a Crazy Plastics near you and find the perfect jars for you.

Step 4: Clean out the drawer you plan to use

You’ll be shocked at how messy the bottom of your spice drawer becomes.

Step 5: Label your spice jars

All you need is a permanent marker.

Step 6: Fill your spice jars

Use a funnel to make the whole process easier. You might want to make a paper cone and use that as a makeshift funnel so that your spices don’t cross-contaminate.

Step 7: Put your spice jars in the drawer

Organize your spices in a way that will work best for you. You could alphabetize them, or placing the most frequently used spices upfront.
