Balloon garlands are gorgeous, easy and affordable to make on your own for any special celebration. Make a big impact for any kind of party by following these easy steps with a handful of balloons and a little time.
Things you will need
- Balloons
- Balloon decorating strip
- An electric balloon inflater (optional) or handheld pump
- Command hooks
- Glue dots
Let's get started
Step 1: Inflate your balloons
Either blow them up yourself or use a handheld air pump. Preferably you want balloons of varying sizes and colors to make it more fun and interesting. Don't blow them up too big though!
Step 2: Cut the decorating strip
Cut the strip to the length you want the balloon garland to be. Leave extra space on each end for hanging later. You may choose to tie to door handles or chair backs.
Step 3: Cut about 10cm of string for each balloon
Tie the string around the base of the knot on the balloon. You only need to tie it once and it will stay on.
Step 4: Start to tie the balloons onto the long piece of decorative string
Tie each one with a double knot, then slide them up to the one in front.
Step 5: There's no strict pattern to follow
Let your creativity out to play by mixing in plenty of the smaller balloons too. Alternate balloon colors and sizes. Slide the balloons tightly next to one another and keep adding balloons, making it full and balanced.
Finally, hang the garland and add in sprigs of silver dollar eucalyptus. If hanging the garland on a wall, you can use nails or Command hooks. Once you hang, you can arrange and move the balloons around a bit. Let the party begin!
