Your toolbox doesn't need to be overflowing to be fully stocked with all the essentials from the hardware store. Every home deserves a toolbox, but do you know what goes into your toolbox? That can be a surprisingly hard question to answer, and creating a list to make life easier can be just as difficult. We suggest the following list if you do not want to find yourself missing the right tool for the right job:
Hammer
Hammers are still relevant in 2020. It is a simple tool designed to manually drive nails, brads, and other fasteners into softer materials such as wood or drywall. Hammers are, and forever will be, a tool kit staple.
Power Drill
The power drill is remarkably easy to use. It makes sense that it’s a remarkably simple machine. A squeeze of the trigger turns on the electric motor, which then rotates the drill or screwdriver bit. There are corded and cordless power drills. Get one that is comfortable for you to use. Everyone should have a cordless hand drill in their kit.
Screwdriver Set
These come in all shapes and sizes. Therefore, a single screwdriver won’t work for every project in your home. Screwdrivers can be fun to have and very cool because of their different size heads and can be stored in the base of the screwdriver so you won’t ever lose them, and all you have to do is pop the correct size head onto the handle. Having options to choose from is great.
Nail/Screw Set
You never want to run out of nails or screws in the middle of a project. Always have way more nails and screws than you could ever find a use for.
Adjustable Wrench/Spanner
If you don’t have a lot of storage for tools, an adjustable wrench is a good place to start and hardly takes up space. While ordinary wrenches can only be used on a particular size nut, an adjustable wrench can be used on a much wider variety of nut sizes. Simple to use, this tool works by turning a screw, which is usually located at the bottom of the head.
Stud Finder
These are usually used for drilling into your walls. Studs are about 16 inches apart.
Tape Measure
Having a good tape measure is one of those things every home needs.
Utility Knife
It’s better not to use kitchen knives for home improvement because that’s gross!
