Delicious Valentine's Day Dinner Ideas

We all heard the saying the best way to a person's heart is through their stomach, right? There is no need to feel the pressure when you are on a tight budget. You can now cancel those dinner reservations and dine in for Valentine's Day with your loved ones instead of torturing yourself over dining at a restaurant. We recommend these delicious Valentine's Day dinner ideas:

1. Sheet Pan Balsamic Steak & Potatoes

Ingredients:

  • ½ kilo of baby potatoes
  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp freshly chopped rosemary, plus sprigs
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ kilo of flank steak
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar

Directions:

  1. In a large pot of salted boiling water, boil potatoes until tender (12 minutes). Drain and halve if large.
  2. Heat broiler. Transfer potatoes to a large rimmed baking sheet and toss with 2 tablespoons olive oil, garlic, and chopped rosemary. Then season with salt and pepper.
  3. On a plate, rub the steak with the remaining tablespoon of oil and balsamic vinegar and season generously with salt and pepper.
  4. Nestle in the middle of the potatoes and scatter rosemary sprigs on the pan.
  5. Broil until steak is medium (4 minutes per side). Let rest, then slice and serve.

2. Greek Salmon Recipe

Ingredients:

For Topping:

  • ¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Juice of 2 lemons
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • ½ tsp red pepper flakes
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 cup cubed feta
  • 1 cup quartered tomatoes or halved cherry tomatoes
  • ¼ cup sliced kalamata olives
  • ¼ cup chopped Persian cucumbers
  • ¼ chopped red onion
  • 2 tbsp freshly chopped dill

For Salmon:

  • 1 lemon, thinly sliced
  • 1 small red onion, sliced
  • 4 salmon fillets (350 ml total), patted dry with paper towels
  • Kosher salt
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  2. Marinate Feta: In a large bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Season with pepper and add feta, tossing to coat. Cover and refrigerate for about 10 minutes while preparing other ingredients.
  3. Roast Fish: Scatter the sliced lemon and red onion at the bottom of a large baking dish. Add salmon fillets skin side down to the baking dish. Season with salt and pepper and bake until opaque and flaky (18 to 20 minutes).
  4. Meanwhile, Make Topping: Into the bowl with feta, add tomatoes, olives, cucumbers, chopped red onion, and dill. Fold gently to combine.
  5. To serve, plate salmon with lemon and red onion slices and top with feta mixture.

3. Caprese Steak

Ingredients:

  • ¾ cup balsamic vinegar
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp dried thyme
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 4 (180 ml) filet mignon or 4 large pieces of sirloin
  • 2 beefsteak tomatoes, sliced
  • Kosher salt
  • 4 slices mozzarella
  • Fresh basil leaves for serving

Directions:

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together balsamic vinegar, garlic, honey, olive oil, dried thyme, and dried oregano. Pour over steak and let marinate for 20 minutes.
  2. Season tomatoes with salt and pepper.
  3. Heat grill to high. Grill steak 4 to 5 minutes per side, then top with mozzarella and tomatoes and cover grill until cheese is melty (2 minutes).
  4. Top with basil before serving.
