Here are a couple of quick and easy Halloween crafts your kids can make in under 30 minutes using items you have around the house and in your nearest Crazy Plastics store. No special tools or skills are required.
Toilet Paper Roll Bat
Materials needed:
- Toilet paper roll
- Black paint
- Paintbrush
- 2 googly eyes
- Black paper
- Glue
- Tape
Start by folding the ends in on the empty toilet paper roll. Draw and cut out some bat wings with black paper. Tape or glue the toilet roll to the wings in the middle and paint it black. Once that dries, stick on two green googly eyes.
Handprint Witch Craft
Materials needed:
- Paintbrush
- Green and orange paint
- Black, white, yellow paper
- Black marker
Have your kids paint their own hands with green paint and stamp it on a piece of white paper. Once the paint is dry, paint on some orange hair and cut out a black hat with paper. Glue on some eyes – we cut out white circles and used a Sharpie to make the pupils. Decorate your witch's face with a big nose, and you can draw her sitting on a broomstick.
Mason Jar Lanterns
Materials needed:
- Glass jars
- Tissue paper
- Arts and craft glue
- Paintbrush
- Glue
- Ribbon
Start by cutting your tissue paper into strips about 1-2 inches wide. Brush a thin layer of arts and craft glue on the glass jar and stick a strip of tissue to it. Take more arts and craft glue and brush on top of it, sealing it onto the jar. Work one strip at a time until you cover the entire jar. Cover the bottom as well, and on the top go a little above the rim just to make sure there wasn't any plain glass peeking through when you put a ribbon around the top. Place your jar upside down to dry.
Keep working until you finish however many jars you're going to do. As your jars are drying, work on your faces. Cut out faces from black paper and use a glue stick to glue them onto the jars. Wait until the jars are dry before gluing on the faces.
